Google Remote Support Guide

Notes: Success Advisors use this tool for hands-on support issues with students. It will allow your SA to access your computer remotely, so please check with a parent or guardian before sending this request.

We strongly recommend you first schedule a Google Meet with your SA to complete this process together.

  1. On your computer, open the Google Chrome browser.

    1. If you do not have Chrome installed, download it by clicking this link.

    2. Follow the installation instructions.

  2. Once Chrome is installed, click it to open the browser.

  3. In the address bar at the top, enter remotedesktop.google.com/support and press enter.

  4. In the top box labeled ‘Share this screen,’ click the download icon.

  5. Remote access is an extension to Chrome. To the right of the pop-up screen that appears, click ‘Add to Chrome.’ In the confirmation window, click ‘Add extension.’

  6. You will then be prompted to download and install the remote desktop software. Once installed, you can initiate the remote support process by clicking the extensions icon on your toolbar (it looks like a puzzle piece, to the right of your address bar).

  7. The window looks very similar, but instead of ‘Add to Chrome,’ the button now reads ‘Generate Code.’ Click this to start the remote process by generating an access code for your Advisor.

  8. Copy the code and send it to the SA you want to access your computer.

  9. When the SA enters your access code on the site, you will see a dialog with their Email address. Select ‘Share’ to allow them full access to your computer.

  10. You will be asked to confirm you want to share your computer every 30 minutes.

  11. When you are done, click ‘Stop Sharing.’ The access code you generate will only work one time.

MAP Testing Instructions:

Notes:

Each student must complete 3 MAP tests: Math, Reading, and Language (Beginner and Low Foundation students are exempt from Language - please consult your Success Advisor (SA) if you have questions).

You will receive an email at your school account and parent email account containing the login information for MAP testing, so please be sure to check your email regularly!

After you finish each test please email kim@WonderEDk12.com and say, 'I have completed my test!’ You will receive another follow-up email from your Success Advisor confirming that your next test has been assigned.

Please pay close attention to your email after your first and/or second test is complete as email will be our main point of communication for testing. (If you have already enrolled in TalkingPoints, we may use that to communicate about testing.)

Login Instructions:

  1. Log in to your Google Chrome Browser and type in Clever.com.

  2. Log in to your Clever dashboard and locate your apps on either your page or the district page.

  3. Once you are logged into Clever dashboard, please click the orange icon that says NWEA in bold black letters.

  4. After you click on the NWEA icon, at the top, it says 'logins'. Please click 'Logins'.

  5. In the drop-down that appears, please click 'MAP Growth Student Login.' This is the ONLY option that will take you to the test session.

    1. Once you click 'MAP Growth Student Login,' if you get a page that says, 'Oops! Where’s my Test Window?' This happens when the Chrome Browser blocks pop-up windows.

    2. Head to the top right corner of your screen.

    3. Find the small red lock, click on it, then click ‘Allow Pop-ups.’

    4. Then, refresh the page.

  6. The Session name and Password Screen will load. Login with the session name and password you received via student/parent email in the morning from your SA.

  7. Please Note: It may be helpful to write down the session name and pin. If you complete multiple exams in one day, it will potentially be the same login information for each exam.

Things to Note:

  • The NWEA website is a ‘secure’ testing browser. You will NOT be able to open any other tabs on your laptop while you are testing or the system will kick you out of your test. If that happens, please let your SA know. They will have to email you a code to get back in.

  • If at any point you get the page containing the sloth, this means you answered too many questions too quickly and need to slow down. The system thinks you are guessing. Your SA will put you back in your test manually  - you will not need a pin.

  • If you are almost done with a test but the testing browser has ended for the day, you will not lose your place in your test! We will schedule another day to complete the testing.

  • MAP tests are NOT graded, so take your time and do your best! Each test is a placement test to measure your individual academic growth throughout your time at Dream Academy!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your SA for Help!
